BIOGRAPHY

FEATURED ARTICLE

Over the past decade, Michael has proven himself to be a diverse film and video editor through his work on spec commercials, studio sizzle reels, short-subject films, and feature-length productions of all genres: comedy, drama, horror, action, sci-fi, and documentary.

He served as a postproduction assistant on Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds and Munich, under the mentorship of Academy-award-winning editor Michael Kahn, ACE, and former head of postproduction at DreamWorks, Marty Cohen. In 2007, he joined the Motion Picture Editors Guild, through the sponsorship of Mr. Kahn and Mr. Cohen, and accepted a promotion to apprentice editor on the Lucasfilm production Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

During this time, he honed his editorial prowess by cutting DVD featurettes for renowned “making-of” documentary filmmaker Laurent Bouzereau.

His work on a sizzle reel for a documentary about Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee secured the participation of POW! Entertainment for what would become the feature-length film With Great Power: The Stan Lee Story, for which Michael also became an additional editor.

More sizzle reels followed, for accomplished producers such as Jason Clark and Barry Mendel, as well as DreamWorks feature and TV productions including Things We Lost in the Fire, Disturbia, and Blades of Glory, the last of which led to a request from producer Stuart Cornfeld to edit several preproduction reels for Tropic Thunder under the direct supervision of director Ben Stiller.

Michael also served as an additional editor on the Vinnie Jones feature Locked Down, as well as the full-length documentary Deuce for producers/directors Joseph and Mark Graziano, and co-edited the documentary Unseen Truth: The Story of Kevin Costner & Modern West for Mr. Costner.

Modi Wiczyk, Co-Chairman and CEO of Media Rights Capital, retained Michael to cut a seven-minute presentational narrative for Academy-award-nominated writer/director Neill Blomkamp’s forthcoming sci‑fi film Chappie. This prompted Mr. Blomkamp to personally request Michael as an additional editor on Elysium, in Vancouver, BC, with Academy-award-nominated editors Julian Clarke, A.C.E. and Lee Smith, A.C.E.
